Pillow Talk Headquarters & Distribution Centre

Pillow Talk Headquarters & Distribution Centre

As an iconic Australian business, Pillow Talk’s ‘love of comfort’ philosophy drives our design for their purpose-built headquarters. Combining their corporate business function with distribution and warehouse operations, our design maximises the opportunity to provide operationally sound logistics and a workplace that enhances collaboration.

Our design for Pillow Talk celebrates the physical workspace as a place to connect, collaborate and improve efficiency. Consolidating their entire corporate, logistics and fulfilment functions into a purpose-built development encourages staff not to lose sight of the benefits for in-person collaboration. As a subtle nod to their ‘love of comfort’ philosophy, our design nurtures Pillow Talk’s workforce by providing the comforts of working from home, and function-based hubs to support specific business functions.

Driving a strong motivation and attitude shift across their workforce to return to the office has been a strategic pillar for the project. The facility includes 11,500m2 warehouse and 2,500m2 online fulfillment and order dispatch as well as 6200m2 of workspace.

The interior design unconventionally shifts the focus to the interior, rather than the dense industrial outlook that surrounds the building. View lines are directed towards the central ‘sunroom’, connecting the two levels to a central void that is both ‘social hub’ and ‘collaborative workspace’. Greenery outlines the atrium void, stone paving emulates an outdoor patio, and sunlight fills the space, deliberately creating an outside dimension in what is a heavily industrial setting. Expressed structural steel, polished concrete slabs and exposed services are softened with timber, rattan and soft colour accents managing an authenticity to the site’s context.

Recognising that this workplace located in a dense industrial area, the design returns ‘city amenity’, incorporating a large gym, treatment, and wellness zone where the team can book haircuts, manicures and massage treatments.

The social spaces take on a club-like feel on each level, and include a fully equipped café and kitchen on each level. A 120-seat purpose built dining & function room connects to an extensive landscaped deck, with recreational lounge settings, offering designated communal spaces to retreat from home and work environments.

Ultimately our design creates a workplace that people love returning to, and is a strategic asset for Pillow Talk to attract the best talent, and streamline their corporate and warehouse operations.
