We are seeking an experienced Studio Leader to lead our Perth studio through its next phase of growth. This is a senior leadership role for an accomplished architect with proven business development success, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to inspire high‑performing teams while delivering profitable, high‑quality projects.
Appointment to this role reflects the confidence of the Board in your ability to win work, lead people, and deliver consistently strong commercial outcomes across the studio and the broader practice.
The Role
As Studio Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction, performance, and culture of the Perth studio. Working closely with Directors, the General Manager and senior leaders, you will:
Secure and grow a strong pipeline of work aligned with the practice’s strategic objectives
Lead studio planning, resourcing and delivery across multiple project teams
Drive project profitability, fee management and financial performance
Champion quality, technical excellence and compliance
Mentor, develop and retain high‑performing people
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Growth
Demonstrate proven success in business development, including winning new work, growing client relationships and converting opportunities into secured fees
Identify and pursue commercial opportunities aligned with the practice’s strategic direction
Lead and participate in client engagement, presentations, tenders and industry activity
Build strong relationships that generate repeat work and referrals
Studio Leadership & Commercial Performance
Lead operational planning and resourcing across multiple projects
Maintain accurate forecasts, cost‑to‑complete reporting and studio performance insights
Oversee invoicing, variations and fee collection to protect margins and cashflow
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to client expectations
Quality, Governance & People Leadership
Take ownership of studio quality processes and technical governance
Mentor and coach teams, supporting capability uplift and leadership development
Contribute to performance feedback, goal setting and talent development initiatives
About You
You will bring:
Demonstrated, hands‑on business development experience within architecture, design or the built environment
A strong track record of winning work and leading client relationships
Proven ability to lead teams across multiple projects while balancing quality, programme and commercial outcomes
Strong financial, resourcing and forecasting capability (Deltek PIM experience highly regarded)
Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications
Bachelor or Master of Architecture (or equivalent), or relevant equivalent qualifications
Registered Architect (or be eligible for architectural registration)
